About Me:

Seattle, WA

My multi-cultured background:

  • Born in the States, raised in Hong Kong, I grew up living a life where East meets West.

  • Living in a city where British influence merges with Chinese tradition and having parents from both the US and China gave me the skills to empathize and understand multiple cultures and perspectives.

Why User Experience (UX) Research:

After getting a taste of UX research by riding with police officers, detectives, and dispatchers in my last role at Axon, I found that UX Research was what I wanted to do in a career.

UX Research allows me to:

  1. Interact with real customers and users while understanding their processes, pain points, and needs to accomplish their goals.

  2. Use my analysis skills to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data gathered in my research.

  3. Convey my insights to product managers and designers to build or enhance a product to the benefit of our users.

I find UX Research as a scientist but for people.

A perfect way for me to use my skills to have a direct impact on making the lives of our users better and to one day help out the lives of those in South East Asia.

My mission:

  • Growing up in Hong Kong makes me feel that South East Asia is my home.

  • Having backpacked through countries like Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam made me want to do something to help the countries that have been affected by the wars in the 70ā€™s.

  • My 5 year goal is to work for a company that either directly or indirectly provides tools and skills to aid the countries in South East Asia.

  • I believe empowering users with skills and tools exponentially achieves more in helping the world than what one person can achieve on his/her own.

My hobbies:

  • Having grown up in the multi-cultured city of Hong Kong, I have always had to passion to backpack and travel around the world.

  • I have made it my life goal to ensure I visit at least 1 new country per year of my life.

  • Currently Iā€™m ahead by a few, having visited 33 countries as shown on the map.

  • There are still a lot more places I want to see and experience in the world and I hope to continue traveling to at least 1 new country each year.

My love for backpacking
